Refine your route

Route overview

On the dynamic map the LF routes are outlined in blue. These linear routes allow you to put together trips covering more than one day which traverse various regions and even different countries. They can be identified by rectangular white signposts with green lettering.

Use of the map

The dynamic map offers lots of possibilities. You can for instance choose the background on which you would like to display the tracks. And there are several ways to get to the route of your choice.

Background

You can adapt the map background by using the drop-down box in the right hand corner of the map.

There are two main styles: map reproduction or satellite images.

  • If you prefer a map reproduction, you can refine your choice in road map or topographical map. You simply adapt your choice by clicking on the option ‘terrain’.
  • If you prefer satellite images as your background, you have the choice whether or not to display the names of cities and streets. You can adapt your choice by clicking on the option ‘labels’.

The default setting of the dynamic map is map reproduction, option terrain.

The route of your choice

The dynamic map offers a lot of opportunities to get to a route of your choice.

You know in what region you want to cycle, but have no idea of the available routes.
At the bottom of the map, at 'REFINE YOUR ROUTE', you type in the area where you would like to cycle. Click OK and the map will automatically zoom to the selected location. Zoom in or out to see whether there are any GR and/or LF-routes at hand.
Another method is to choose the area by the drop-down box 'FILTERS'. Select the preferred region and the map will zoom to the routes that run through that particular region.

You know which route you would like to see in detail.
Option 1:
If you know the area of the route, just click on this area on the map. Let your mouse float over the map and each time it passes a route, a markup balloon will appear with the name of the route and the distance in kilometers. And if you click on the route itself, the detailed page of the route will appear.

Option 2:
If you do not know the area of the route, you can select it from the list of routes. On the right of the map, under ‘FILTERS’ you choose the preferred route by clicking ‘SELECT YOUR ROUTE’. The detailed page of the route will appear.
