GR 512 connects the cities of Diest and Geraardsbergen with a 173 km east-west route through Flemish Brabant and East Flanders. You explore picturesque places and historic buildings in Diest. You walk through the Hageland hills, Brabant forests and valleys, the tradition-rich Pajottenland and the Dender valley. The Houwaart mountain full of vines, the castles of Horst, Beersel and Gaasbeek and traditional square farms cross your path. You step among majestic trees in the Walenbos, Meerdaalbos, Zoniënbos, Neigembos and Raspaillebos. Protected nature reserves in the valleys of the Dijle, IJse and Zenne undoubtedly catch your attention. Via Gaasbeek and Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Lombeek, some of Flanders' most beautiful villages, you reach the Muur van Geraardsbergen and its urban monument beauty on the market square.

In the accompanying topoguide, the 173km route is divided into four sections, with each divided into day stages. We chose an average day of about 20 km, taking into account public transport connections and nearby accommodation as much as possible. The entire Brabant Hill Route can thus be walked in 9 day
