GR 5A Coastal Path

Discover a  60 km long distance trail along the Flemish coast! Follow the red and white markings on a unique hike by the sea and on the beach, ‘up hill and down dale’ in the dunes and through beautiful scenic areas. The Coastal Path connects many places of interest and there is always a coastal tram stop nearby.

You can start or stop wherever you like and return by tram. All coastal tram stops are marked and named on the map and the mileage indication will help you to determine the length of your hike. You can walk the Coastal Path in stages varying from 5 to 30 km.

The Flemish coastal route is part of 'GR 5A, Tour of Flanders' and GR 5A is a branch of the legendary GR 5, which runs from Hoek van Holland to Nice, from the North Sea to the Riviera. GR 5 is, in her turn, part of the European Walking Trail E2, which runs from Scotland to Nice. Our coastal route is also part of the European Walking Trail E9, which runs from Sagres (South-Portugal) via Hamburg to Estonia, a distance of about 4880 km.
